Dollymount cruised into the 2nd round of the cup
Tom Lillis scored the first goal on the 1/2 hour receiving the ball 25 metres out, he fainted to shot with his left but switched to his right & beat the keeper easily into the bottom left. It has to be said he was wearing DOC's boots. Dollymount dominated the match and should have been in front a lot earlier.
10 minutes later Craig catches the ball on the volley 35metres out and buries it into the bottom right corner.
Shortly after the break Brian receives ball on the right side of the box and crosses to Gar, who takes it down on his chest and just taps it by the keeper.
On the 15th minute Brian runs the lenght of the pitch, skipping by about 10 players, but that was his celebration after an easy strike from about 10 yards.
Garrett scored his second with a few minutes remaining, been put clean through by a brilliant 40 yard pass from Jay(captain).

FIONN FLYS ON THE WING
Dollymount started the best with 2 very good chances, 1st Johner weaves his way past 3 defenders and rounds the keeper, only to bring the ball too far wide, giving the keeper time to recover and save. 2nd Quinner rounds 2 defenders but blasts over.
After 10 mins Dollymount 2-0 down because of some weak attempts at clearing the ball for the first and a mix up between Glenn & Brian both leaving the ball to each other, letting the forward go through and giving Jez no chance.
20 minutes Quinner takes along throw into Doc at the near post and he slots home with ease. 21mins D.2 defence call for offside, not given, no.9 through again and buries the ball into the corner.
35 minutes Fionn takes off down the left wing skips past 3 defenders and lays a well weighted ball to Tom, who turns into the box and his legs are taken from under him. Even do he tried his best he could not stay on his feet and was awarded the penalty. DOC came forward and calmly but firmly struck the ball into the bottom left corner. DOC's 2nd. Even though Dollymount had most of the possession, D.2 were still losing 3-2.
D.2 had a couple more chances before the break, main one Johner heading over from close range.
Dollymount had most of the 2nd half and at times playing good football on the ground. With Robbie having their no. 9 in his pocket for the whole of the last 45 minutes, Carton had no real out let.
With 25 minutes of pressure on the Carton team, Dollymount finally got the equaliser when Brian McGurran cut in from the right wing and curled the ball into the far top corner. There was only going to be one winner and Dollymount took the lead when DOC sent a free into the box and Johner finally got the goal he deserved.
A few minutes later Quinner found himself with loads of time and a few yards out. Looking for the spectacular he blasted the ball over the bar, instead of just beating the keeper and insuring all 3 points.
With the game in the last 10mins, Fionn was on another of his runs down the left(FLYING up & down the wing for the 90mins) collided with a Carton player and end with 6 inch stud cuts, up the inside of his thigh. Robbie aims the ball the full lenght of the pitch to carton's wide line but Quinner had different ideas and caught the ball before going out and beat the keeper by slotting it into the bottom corner, making up for his earlier mistake.
It was a fine team performance, taking into account, the new team format with the 2 wing backs, Fionn & Brian who both work very hard, running up and down the line, to make the system work. The back 3 of Gar ,Glenn And Robbie Grow into the new set up, especially in the 2nd 1/2 when Carton hardly got a look at goal.
Tom & DOC worked tirelessly in the middle. Upfront Johner showed all across the park. Johner & Quinner both had very good games trying to link up and made chances for themselves. DOC is now the leading CLUB scorer on 4.

D.1. 2 v 3 Amber Celtic 2 sept 09
Dollymount should have had a late equalizer in injury time when the ball broke in the box for footsoilder & Deano, Deano pull on the ball first and blasted inches over the bar.
The early part of match was closely contested., and D.1 took the lead when they were awarded a penalty which Quinner smashed to right of the keeper, even though he got a hand to the ball, the keeper couldn't keep it out.
Amber equalized soon after, when Quinners misplaced pass went to an amber forward whose cross was met with Aido Clare's head as he was diving to intercept. The deflection wrong footed Jamie in goal. A lot of bad luck .....
Dollymount heads dropped a bit after that and they were soon 2-1 down and 3rd soon came when Tobin, on the edge of the box, got his head to a long ball and it looped high over Jamie in goal. Another unlucky headed O.G.
Hazel got one back after some good work , slotting it easily pass the keeper with his left foot.
Dollymount played a lot better in the 2nd half and should of got some thing from the match.
Conwell 3 v 0 D.2 31th aug 09
Conwell deserved their 3 - 0 win. D.2 did have 3 good chances in the first half and a few more in the second. But mainly the passing was bad and hardly ever played the ball on the ground. The few times they did, they made chances. Individual mistakes and lazy marking and not chasing back, cost goals. A few worked hard in patches but no team play.
Hopefully the players will learn that they have to work hard on the pitch and help each other out instead of arguing.

SHAKY START TO THE SEASON FOR BOTH TEAMS.
Both the 1st & 2nd teams started with high scoring games.3 all & 5 all.
D.2 BATTLE TO END TO EARN A DRAW
The 2nds had to travel to Lucan to do battle with Adamstown, who where newly promoted to the division having won their league last year.
Adamstown started the stronger but the Dollymount defence held them off well. Mick O Hara was brought down on the right wing about 30 metres from Adamstown goal. Robbie came up to take the free, he struck the ball, the keeper expecting a cross, took a step of his line, he never recovered from that mistake as the ball flew over him and into the top left corner. 1-0 to D2.
10 mins later Beano fairly shouldered Adam forward, he fell very easy. the penalty was heading for Jez's right hand corner, but Jez sprung like a gazelle and palmed the ball around the post.
But things got worse, Adamstown went on to make it 2-1 at 1/2 time.
Dollymount came out the much better side in the second half and for 20 minutes had the home team under pressure. After good build up play Johner slots home coolly. 2-2. Two minutes later Dollymount are behind 2-4.
An Adamstown player stamps down on Johner's shin ( he could have caused serious damage) Johner reacted by standing up to his attacker. The referee sent off the player for the offence and Johner for reacting. It seemed very harsh .
A while later their changes made to shape of the team. Dollymount went for a 3 man defence, taking Beano off and replacing him with a right winger Brian McGurran, with Mick O Hara switching to the left side of midfield and Garrett Redmond movig up front with Craig Henry.
Adamstown no.10 finally got booked for a terrible tackle from behind on Mick O'Hara. The no.10 had headbutted and kicked a number of D.2 players during the game and a few minutes after his booking, he gives Robbie a dig in the back of his head which the referee gives a free-kick and a talk to the no. 10 and lets him off Scot free.
Tom Lillis and Dave O'Connor work tirelessly in midfield and indeed around the park to win the ball back. It was one of these lost causes where everyone watched the ball go over their heads from a free into their box and to a defender who was letting it run out, but DOC chased him and the ball down, tackles and wins the ball and gets it back into the danger area, with a few passes and flicks Garrett Redmond scores. A few minutes later Craig under pressure, lobs the keeper but also the post. The next move he's in again , this time he turns onto his left and easily beats the keeper. It's 4-4 with 7 minutes left. it's going to be a draw?
No, Adamstown brake away again 5-4. The home support go mad.
After good inter play Graig and Garrett, Garrett slots home with last kick of the game. 5-5.
